Purpose
Why HIMForward SmartStats Was Created
Reliable healthcare decisions begin with reliable data.
Every month, health facilities compile statistics from outpatient departments, clinics, wards, and other service areas. These figures support routine reporting, monitoring of service utilisation, identification of data-quality problems, and planning.
However, compiling statistics from paper-based records and different reporting tools can be time-consuming. Missing values, inconsistent figures, calculation errors, and discrepancies between source documents and reported totals can affect the quality of information used for decision-making.
HIMForward SmartStats was created to help address these challenges.
The tool is designed to support health information professionals in organising aggregate health data, checking reporting figures, identifying potential data-quality issues, analysing trends, and preparing useful summaries and reports.
Its goal is to help transform routine health statistics from scattered figures into more organised, understandable, and useful information.
SmartStats supports human review and professional judgement. It does not replace qualified health information professionals, official reporting systems, or applicable health information management standards.

Ugwu Tochi Peace
Health Information Management Professional | Digital Health Innovator
Ugwu Tochi Peace is a Nigerian Health Information Management professional with over 15 years of experience in the hospital environment.
Her professional experience has involved medical records administration, health information management, routine health statistics, documentation, data-quality checks, and reporting.
Through her work in healthcare, she has developed a strong interest in the role of technology in improving how health information is organised, assessed, interpreted, and used.
She founded HIMForward to promote practical learning and innovation in Health Information Management, digital health, health data quality, and analytics.
HIMForward SmartStats reflects her belief that health information professionals should have access to practical digital tools that can support their daily work and help improve the quality and usefulness of routine health data.
Her broader vision is to connect professional experience with accessible technology, helping health information professionals move beyond record keeping towards data quality, digital innovation, analysis, and evidence-informed decision-making.
